RR 2022: Rajasthan Royal dominates
Last Wednesday (May 25), RCB’s (Royal Challenger Bangalore’s), Rajat Patidar’s scintillating unbeaten knock of 112 threw cold water to Lucknow Super giant’s dream of making it to the final four of the ongoing IPL.
So there were speculations that history would repeat at Narendra Modi Stadium yesterday. But it was not to be.
In the second match of the qualifiers playoffs, RR easily defeated RCB.
Fourteen years have passed since RR made it to the finals. They will face the Gujrat Titans (GT) in the final at the same venue.
The match ended late Friday night. RR achieved its targetted 158 runs in 18 overs to wrap up the game.
The Final score: RR: 158 for 3 & RCB: 157 for 8
Description of match
After winning the toss, RR invited RCB to bat first. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli came to open the innings.
RCB had a devastating start again when Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring seven runs in the second over.
The sharpness of Virat’s batting is declining. Yesterday, we had a glimpse of it. Virat came to open the innings with a smile. He looked like he was going to make a difference with his bat. He played the first over and it was perfect. He was taken aback by Prasidh Krishna’s short pitch ball in the next over. The ball moved a bit. A lack of timing caused the ball to touch the outer edge of the bat. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson made sure to show Virat the way to the pavilion. Virat scored only 7 runs.
It’s time for the talented youngsters on the bench to get a chance and that’s why it’s time for Virat to quit the game.
Rajat Patidar : Only solace for RCB
Rajat patidar came in after Virat. He and skipper Faf du Plessis kept the hope alive. The pair scored 77 runs in 54 balls. Then, Du Plessis was dismissed for 25 runs in the eleventh over. At the same time, Glenn Maxwell scored 24 runs in 13 balls, playing a fast inning, but failed to play a big inning. It was Trent Boult’s 14th over that sent Glenn to the pavilion.
Rajat completed fifty runs in forty balls, reminiscent of his fiery batting last Wednesday (May 25) at the Eden Gardens. After scoring 58 off 42 balls, Ashwin dismissed Patidar in the 16th over.
The Bangalore team seemed to be moving towards a big score when Patidar batted. However, Patidar’s dismissal changed the scenario. The rest of the batting was careless and gullible enough that they had no desire to score a big total. 157 for 8 was the team’s limit.
Bangalore went on a whim in front of the Prasidh Siddhi and Obed McCoy tight bowling. Bangalore’s team could score only 34 runs in the last five overs and, during this time, also lost four big wickets.
Rajasthan Royal’s aggressive batting
Rajasthan was aggressive from the beginning and chased a target of 158 runs. The Buttler and Jaiswal scored 61 runs in thirty-one balls. Yashasvi fell victim to Hazlewood after scoring 21 runs in 13 balls.
Buttler took over the command. He completed his half-century in 23 balls after smashing the bowlers all around the ground.
Buttler went on to slam a match-winning ton. He scored 52 runs in 39 balls with Sanju Sampson. Samson scored 23 runs in 21 balls.
Buttler scored his fourth century of the season in 60 balls. He hit a six in the 19th over to give Rajasthan a one-sided victory.
